The Foster Museum’s Collection
The Foster Museum’s permanent collection contains four complete Tony Foster Journeys, painting projects based on a wilderness theme, which consist of a series of watercolor paintings complemented by souvenirs and journal excerpts. The permanent collection also includes individual watercolor artworks and prints by Tony Foster and archival materials and objects related to Tony Foster’s work and travels, such as photographs, maps, artists’ materials, and outdoor gear. Additionally, The Foster Museum conducts and archives oral history interviews with Tony Foster, his traveling companions, and his colleagues to document and contextualize his Journeys and artworks.
The Foster Museum actively collects Tony Foster’s art and archival materials. For information about donations to the collection and acquisitions, please contact Artistic Director Kristin Poole (artisticdirector@thefoster.org).
